Scheduled newsletters and NewsLetter Automation. We have concibed a new document type (extension ".nls"), standing for "scheduled newsletter". Basically, this file contains the same information than a regular newsletter document (".nlt"). However, when you double-click this file in the Finder (or drop it onto NewsLetter's icon), the app will immediatelly attempt to send the newsletter, then will quit. As you see, this is a very simple idea, but it will allow you use your favorite schedule-application (or Automator Workflow or whatever) to launch these documents: iCal, Entourage, a cron job, etc. Most of schedulers will allow the launching of an external document, which is the same than double-clicking the related file. This way, you can configure iCal (for example) to send a newsletter every first monday of a month, or whatever. To create a scheduled newsletter, simply write your newsletter as allways, then use the "Export scheduled newsletter" menu item in the File menu. To edit a scheduled newsletter, open it using the "Load newsletter..." menu item, under the File menu. |
